A Letter from Our Elders About Quay Church…
Dear Lifebridge Church Family,
We are writing to you today as the Elders of Lifebridge Church to share an important moment in the life of our church. After much prayer, reflection, and a deep sense of calling from Pastor Luke, we have made the decision that Lifebridge Church will officially become Quay (pronounced ”kee”) Church this September. While this announcement may bring excitement to some and hesitation to others, we want to assure you that this is not merely a change of name but a thoughtful step forward in embracing the vision and mission God has set before us. Our hope is to move together in unity, trusting in God’s guidance as we continue to grow and serve.
Why Quay?
At its core, the word quay refers to a platform that serves as a landing place for ships, a stabilizing foundation where burdens are offloaded, and new supplies are taken on before embarking on their next journey. This imagery profoundly resonates with our faith journey and the calling we have as a church. As Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Christ is our Quay—the place where we find rest, renewal, and purpose, and from which we are sent out to fulfill His mission.
Just as a quay serves as a pivotal point for a ship’s voyage, we believe this new name encapsulates who we are and who we are becoming. It reflects our mission to be a place of rest and renewal for those weary from life’s storms and a launching point for bringing the Gospel to the world.
The Biblical Significance of a Name Change
Throughout Scripture, we see God use name changes to signify pivotal transformations and new identities. Abram became Abraham, Sarai became Sarah, Simon became Peter, and Saul became Paul. These moments marked new chapters, fresh beginnings, and profound mission clarity.
As we take on the name Quay Church, we are embracing a new identity while remaining steadfast in our purpose. This change reflects the work God has been doing in and through Lifebridge for years. It is a declaration that we are stepping boldly into the future He has for us with faith, passion, and a renewed commitment to His calling.
What Does This Mean for Us?
What’s Next?
Starting with January 5th, Pastor Luke launched a new Collection of Conversations titled The Renaissance, beginning with a message called What’s In a Name? This collection will delve into the Biblical significance of names and the vision God has given us as Quay Church. We encourage you to join us for these gatherings and engage with the vision God is unfolding.
As we move toward our official name change in September, we invite you to journey with us in prayer, unity, and excitement. Together, we will step into this new chapter with confidence in the God who has led us every step of the way.
Thank you for being a vital part of our church family. We are deeply grateful for your faith, support, and commitment as we take this bold step forward together.
In Christ,
The Elders of Lifebridge Church
