Not all can FOSTER, but all can CARE.
Our church partners with Commission 127 with the mission to strengthen and support foster, adoptive and biological families in crisis by creating community and equipping people in our church (like you) to be part of a FAM (Family Advocacy Ministry).
What is a FAM?
A FAM is a group of people from our church who come along side a family currently fostering or adopting to help support them in everyday life. The statistics are hard – foster families without help usually quit within their first year, because it’s not just watching kids. Fostering also includes navigating the court system, case workers and all of the issues that come along with that. Cases usually take more than a year to work through the court system, so if a foster family gives up in their first year, kids are being bounced from home to home sometimes 3 or 4 times before their case is ever finished. We strongly believe kids belong in families, and have found when foster families are supported by a FAM, they stay fostering longer!
Here’s How You Can Help:
Being part of the FAM allows you to serve a foster/adoptive family once a month through a care community of 6-10 people to serve in one or more of these roles:
